Caleb Larson is an American multiformat journalist based in Berlin, Germany. His work covers the intersection of conflict and society with a focus on American foreign policy and European security. Caleb has reported from Germany, Ukraine, Russia, and the United States. Most recently, he covered the war in Ukraine from the ground, reporting extensively on the war’s shifting battle lines from Bakhmut and other cities in Donbas and writing on the war’s civilian and humanitarian toll.

A graduate of the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at Universität Erfurt in Germany, he holds a Master of Public Policy with a Conflict Studies specialization and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also took Security Studies courses and studied the Russian language at Saint Petersburg State University in Russia. A native English speaker, he is fluent in German and Spanish and is at a beginner level in Russian. He is HEFAT certified.
